Vikings Sign Jordan Mims and Jamal Adams — Any Fantasy Reason to Care?
Minnesota made two low-key additions official: a former Jets All-Pro at 30 and an undrafted RB chasing his first real NFL role since 2023.

Deep-league flyer only if he wins the RB depth and special-teams job.
- Adams is 30, signed after a 2025 stint at LB
- Adams played all 17 games for Raiders last year
- Mims undrafted by Bills in 2023
- Mims has bounced through Saints, Titans, 49ers
- Both signings now official per the team
The Vikings made two depth signings official on Monday: running back Jordan Mims and linebacker Jamal Adams. Adams, now 30, had his deal reported a day earlier and finalized today. Neither move is going to move the needle in your draft, but one of them is at least worth filing away.
Adams is the bigger name and the bigger cautionary tale. He was one of the league's premier safeties early in his career with the Jets, then his game cratered after the blockbuster trade that sent him to Seattle. He's never gotten back to that level. What he did do last season with the Raiders was reinvent himself at linebacker, holding up well enough to stay active for all 17 games — which, for a player this deep into a decline, counts as a genuine win.
Mims is the one fantasy managers should actually track, even if the odds are long. He's been kicking around since signing with Buffalo as an undrafted rookie in 2023, with pit stops in New Orleans, Tennessee and San Francisco. No real production at any of them. In Minnesota he'll compete for a roster spot as a backfield body and on special teams — the classic camp-battle profile.
The Fantasy Fallout
Here's the honest read: from a redraft standpoint, neither of these guys belongs anywhere near your queue right now. Adams is a defensive linebacker on the back nine of his career, so IDP formats aside, there's nothing to see. Mims is behind an established depth chart and has to earn snaps before we even talk touches.
That said, running back is the one position where a training-camp longshot can turn into a waiver-wire name in a hurry — one injury ahead of him and the picture changes. Mims isn't a name you spend a bench spot on in July.
The play is simple: leave both on the wire. Keep Mims's name in your back pocket, watch the Vikings' backfield depth chart through the preseason, and revisit only if he climbs. For everyone in standard leagues, this is a nothing-burger — just two roster fillers doing roster-filler things.
